Winning a grant isn't easy and often the process of writing a proposal seems intimidating. Most of the difficulty comes from not knowing what exactly goes into an effective proposal. This session will cover the following topics:
  •  The essential components of a grant proposal package
  •  Important writing techniques that make your proposal stand out from the pile
  •  Layout and design of a strong proposal
  •  Customizing a proposal to match a grant maker's interest and using your proposal as a relationship building tool
You'll go back to the office with a well honed plan for ensuring that your proposals cover the right bases every time.


Speakers for this session:

Sari M. Pascoe
Dr.
Passages Northwest

Dr. Pascoe has been involved in fundraising for over 10 years. Currently, she is responsible for identifying, producing, and submitting all proposals for funding. In addition, she offers training opportunities to grant writing volunteers. As former Executive Director at Communities In Schools of Renton, Dr. Pascoe submitted and administered all grants for the organization, bringing over $1M in funding within a one-year period. Before that, she worked as Grant Director at Research Universities where she was responsible for training faculty members who developed research agendas. Dr. Pascoe also managed international grant projects (e.g., Dept. of Education). Dr. Pascoe earned a Ph.D. degree in Education: Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a M.A. in Education in Instructional Technologies from San Francisco State University. Dr. Pascoe is member of the National Association of Professional Women, the Rotary Club, the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, and the American Educational Research Association.
