Blogging 201 - using your blog to create a virtual community

Once you've created a blog, the next natural step is to build a reader community. To make this happen, you need to update your blog frequently, link to other bloggers and commentators who share your interests, and optimize your blog for search engines.  Once you have mastered the tools of advanced blogging, you will be able to reach your audience whenever you want.

In this session we will cover:
•       What makes one blog stand out above the others (content, SEO and links)
•       The best ways to involve other bloggers and commentators in your blogging activities
•       Segmenting your blog to attract different readers
•       Integrating the latest technologies, including RSS and podcasting, to  foster awareness of your blog
•       Avoiding the most common pitfalls of blogging (inappropriate content, copyright issues, and negative exposure)

Participants will walk away from this advanced session with tools for building an online community using blogging.

This session is intended for Executive Directors, Senior Staff and Communications Managers
