At the Resource Group, Joseph works with a wide variety of clients designing, planning and implementing capital campaigns, annual solicitations, special events and major gift solicitation. Prior to joining the Resource Group, Joseph worked with the Diocese of Bridgeport in Connecticut, where he was responsible for the implementation of the Annual Bishop`s Appeal. Joseph was also instrumental in the start-up of their planned giving program. Joseph`s earlier experience came with Community Counselling Service where he served as Executive Director conducting campaigns for a wide variety of clients. He has worked on capital campaigns that combined have raised over $150 million. His experience includes a wide variety of clients in healthcare, religion, education and civic associations. Joseph is a graduate of the University of Dayton. He is the President of The Kiwanis Club of Patchogue and a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.
Abbie von Schlegell, CFRE, has over 35 years of experience in development, half as a senior development officer and half as a consultant. A Stanford alumna, she has worked on Stanford University`s campaigns and those of The University of Chicago; she led the Development offices of Enterprise Community Partners and The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC. She has also worked for several different consulting firms before forming her own company in the summer of 2007 and relocating to western MA. She is widely known as a presenter and trainer in major gifts, campaign planning and women`s philanthropy. She also edited the best selling handbook, Women as Donors, Women as Philanthropists. Abbie is an active volunteer as well and has recently joined the board of the Girl Scouts Council of Central and Western MA.
Before entering consulting, Steve Wilkerson had served a total of fourteen years as vice president for development at first the University of Florida, then Boston University and finally Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. At each of those institutions he gained a substantial part of the basis for his consulting practice which has included interim management, campaign planning and conduct, organization of development programs, large and small, operating fund campaigns, telephone solicitations, major, principal and leadership gift efforts, corporate, foundation and alumni support, software and personnel selection. Some of his better known clients have included Stanford University Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, The Eldridge Street Synagogue, The Jerusalem Foundation, the University of Maryland Medical School and Medical Center, the University of Missouri – Columbia, the Smithsonian Marine Lab and the University of Delaware.
