Rachel Fishman has worked in the development department of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Foundation for more than 12 years. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of Development and helps to develop and implement a variety of fundraising projects, including a new $100 million+ comprehensive capital campaign. Prior to that position, she served as the Director of Institutional Giving; in that role, she managed a comprehensive foundation giving program and helped to increase grant revenue to approximately $7 million annually. She previously served as the ACLU’s Grants Manager and Grant Writer. Prior to joining the ACLU, Rachel worked in the development department of Amnesty International.
In his role as Senior VP, Programs & Operations, Thomas manages the day-to-day functions of Cable Positive as well as the organization’s many outstanding programs. Among his many responsibilities, Thomas created Cable Positive`s Youth AIDS Media Institute which received a $200,000 grant from the Motorola Foundation, the Cable Positive`s largest grant to date, and oversees the organization`s various grant programs and media projects which include an award-winning Public Education Campaign and documentary series. As an experienced leader, award-winning writer, and a veteran of the AIDS service organization Vermont Cares, Thomas welcomes the daily challenges his role provides him.
In his current position, Chris is responsible for coordinating the development of grant proposals for the priority initiatives at the University of Connecticut. His office focuses on cultivating relationships with principal gift-level prospects ($500,000 and above) but also develops proposals for smaller projects. Working with 13 different schools and colleges at a major research university, Chris attempts to stay familiar with existing funding opportunities and proactively seeks grant funding but also relies upon the strategy of “identifying and riding the shooting star before it dies out.” Previously Chris served in similar capacities at the Wadsworth Atheneum of Art and at Connecticut College in New London, CT. Chris is a member of CASE and of AFP. He holds a B.A. in History from Central Connecticut State University and an MPA from Columbia University.
