In her current position, Katherine helps nonprofits develop strategies to build their relationships with local, state, and federal decision makers to secure funding for great programs and projects. Her approach is to help organizations establish grassroots support, communicate effectively, and cultivate deep relationships. Since 1999, Katherine has assisted a dozen New York City based non-profits to secure more than $45 million in public funding. She has also served as the director of development for MOUSE, the Wagner School of Public Service at NYU. She spent eight years in New York City Government with Mayors Koch, Dinkins, and Manhattan Borough President Messinger. Katherine has a BA in Economics from San Francisco State University and a MPA from the Wagner School of Public Service at NYU.
Hoong Yee has been involved in development for 10 years. In her current position, she is responsible for fundraising for the private and public sector, advocacy efforts in the city, state and national levels, cultivating an engaged and diverse board of directors, and building relationships with donors. Previously, as Education Director at Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts, Hoong Yee was responsible for writing grants to support programs, participating in fundraising activities for prospective donors, and working with local legislators on program activities in individual districts. Hoong Yee currently serves as a Board Member for The Writers Room, Forest Park Trust, Exploring the Arts Foundation and on the Advisory Committee for the Urban Omnibus. She earned a Masters Degree in Piano Performance from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from Oberlin College. She is a member of Grantmakers in the Arts and the NYC Arts Coalition.
Tom has been a lobbyist for 20 years. He has over 25 years experience in politics, political communications, lobbying, legislative affairs, governmental relations and public relations. An accomplished writer and researcher, he has authored a number of articles examining issues related to the practice of lobbying, which have been published across New York. He was an invited presenter at the Researching New York 2007 history conference, presenting a paper entitled Lobbying – The Exercise of Power and Politics in New York. He is now a lecturer on that topic in the New York Lectures in the Humanities series. His pro-bono work on behalf of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind has been recognized in The Washington Post’s column on lobbying – K Street Confidential, and the Albany Times Union’s column on state politics – Capitol Confidential. He is author of the internet blog, The Bully Pulpit - a speech writer's take on important speeches, and the craft of writing for an audience. Previously, he was Account Executive at Howard J. Rubenstein, one of Manhattan's most powerful public relations agencies. Tom earned Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY Geneseo, and is a member of American League of Lobbyists.
Sabrina has been involved in lobbying and politics for 8 years. In her current position, she is responsible for lobbying government officials on issues pertaining to reproductive health and rights. Previously, as Manager of Political Affairs at Planned Parenthood of New York City, Sabrina was responsible for directing day-to-day operations of the organization's political arm, developing the annual lobbying program to support PPNYC's legislative agenda, and coordinating online and grassroots activist program to support legislative and electoral goals. Before that, she worked as Program Associate at Empire State Pride Agenda where she was responsible for coordinating statewide legislative initiatives to achieve LGBT equality, training constituents to lobby elected officials on pending legislation, managing a campaign to pass the NYC Equal Benefits Bill (passed City Council May 2004), and organizing annual lobby day and town hall forums. Sabrina currently serves as Board Chair for Live Out Loud. She earned her Bachelors in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College.
