TITLE : London Fundraising Summit
CITY : London , UK
DATE : Wednesday, September 24, 2008 - Thursday, September 25, 2008
OVERVIEW
Charity and not-for-profit fundraising has become highly specialised. Managing relationships with different types of donor calls for different skills. Whether you are reaching out to private foundations, wealthy individuals or your own members, you need to understand who they give to, and why. The London Summit focuses on the relationship aspects of fundraising, and gives you new ways to enhance your effectiveness in managing relationships with donors and potential donors.

Day One:
In the morning, listen to a panel of decision-makers from private, corporate and community grant-awarding bodies who will openly discuss their philosophy on making grants, how they operate, and most importantly, how you can build a more valuable relationship with them. In the afternoon, take part in seminars led by experienced grant applicants who have successfully secured many foundation grants, and have built fruitful relationships with grant-makers.

Day Two:
Attend a series of fundraising seminars covering the hottest areas of fundraising (capital campaigns, major gifts, annual giving campaigns, and many more). Panels of experts will discuss the latest developments in these fields and answer questions from participants.

WHY ATTEND THE FUNDRAISING SUMMIT?
Fundraising is all about relationships, and meeting people face-to-face is very important. These days, though, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to actually meet donors, grant-making bodies and fundraising experts. Our innovative Summit format is the most time-efficient and cost-effective way of interacting with experts in the field, as well as other not-for-profit and charity managers. You will come away with practical ideas and solutions you can actually use.

CAN I JUST ATTEND A COUPLE OF SESSIONS?
Feel free to attend only the seminars that will be of most use to you. We know your time is precious. Come for the day or stay for a couple of hours. You only pay for the seminars you want to attend and only for the information that’s relevant to you. It’s a novel approach to learning that allows you to get exactly what you’re looking for in the shortest time.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE SEMINARS?
Each seminar features a panel of 3-4 experts who will give a short overview of the key developments in that field. After that, we move into a moderated discussion to explore what these developments mean for charities and not-for-profit organisations. It’s an interactive format that ensures participants get to ask about what’s important to them. The session ends with a summary of practical next-steps.

HOW IS THE SUMMIT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TRAINING EVENTS?
The Summit offers a unique format to help you accomplish the following:
  • Build relationships: to ensure maximum exposure to the experts and other not-for-profit managers each seminar offers structured networking before the session starts
  • Hear different perspectives: the experts are drawn from different sectors of the to ensure cross-pollination of ideas and practices
  • Get a global view: speakers give an overview of key issues so that you can quickly get to grips with any unfamiliar subjects
  • Get down to specifics: speakers will also focus on giving specific answers to real-world questions that apply to most attendees
  • Come away with information you can really use: the sessions are built around practical tools and techniques that not-for-profit managers can actually use rather than theoretical discussions
WHO IS BEHIND THE SUMMIT?
The Summit is organised by the Center for Nonprofit Success, itself a not-for-profit organisation. We developed the Fundraising Summit series as a follow-on to the Charity Success Forum which took place in Birmingham and London last September. The Fundraising Summit goes further than the Forum and drills down into specific areas of fundraising to give not-for-profit managers cutting edge tools and techniques.
