Mary Louise Avery CFRE, has over 25 years experience in fund raising in West Michigan. She has has consulting experience and is often a trainer for planned giving, capital campaigns and major gifts, special events and volunteer management. Her real "fun" is capital campaigns. Her past employers include The Kalmazoo Nature Center, Kalmazoo Institute of the Arts, Lakeside Treatment and Learning Center, Senior Services Inc. Clark Retirement Community Foundation and now the Center for Women in Transition in Holland MI. She believes the same elements are actions are necessary in $5 million capital campaigns as with $20 million. She often shares a list of all the good ourcomes of capital campaign that have nothing to do with money.
Melinda Conway Callahan, President, Presbyterian Villages of Michigan Foundation has 22 years of extensive experience in the non-profit development field, raising money from individual donors, foundations and corporate givers. Her most recent success was the completion of Presbyterian Villages of Michigan’s first $2.6 million capital and endowment campaign in May 2007 for Green Houses, an alternative form of skilled nursing care. She was awarded a $200,000 Kresge Foundation Capital Challenge grant and all campaign fundraising goals were exceeded. She started at The Detroit Medical Center from 1988 to 1992 where she raised $3 million through major and planned gift solicitation, identification, cultivation and solicitation of donor prospects at all levels; from 1995 to 2003 at Rochester Community Schools she raised $3 million over a 5 year period with annual revenue of $750,000. She serves on the board of directors for AFP Foundation, Rochester Community Schools Foundation and AFP
In her current position, Kristine serves on the Bishop’s Executive Staff and assists ninety congregations and affiliated organizations with raising funds for ministry. She has held this position since 2006. Prior to this position, Kristine was a Senior Vice President in the Church Division of Cargill Associates, a national stewardship consulting firm dedicated to raising funds for churches and non-profit institutions across the United States. During her tenure with Cargill Associates, Kristine assisted a wide variety of churches of various denominations, sizes, styles and locations in raising over $56 million dollars for major capital projects and ongoing ministries. A native of Ohio, she did her undergraduate work in Business Administration at the Ohio State University and received her M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University. In 2007, Kristine achieved CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) credentials.
