Speakers for this session:

Suzanne Bissell
President
Global Philanthropy Services

Suzanne has been involved in development for over 20 years. Currently, she is providing consulting services here and abroad specializing in annual and major gift programs. Previously as Director of Individual Giving for two major museums, The Phillips Collection and the National Building Museum, she was responsible for directing national membership campaigns as well as building annual, major and planned giving programs. In prior years, she served as Director of Annual Giving at The Potomac School, a top K-12 independent school, where she was responsible for providing campaign strategy, communication vehicles, and donor stewardship programs for five constituent groups. Before that, Suzanne was Executive Director of the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, where she developed IT, member services, communications, and new revenue streams. Suzanne currently serves as Chair of the Planned Giving Committee at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, McLean VA. and is an advisor to the Great Falls, Virginia Arts Foundation. She earned a bachelors degree in education from Immaculata University and studied art history and design at Drexel University. She is an alumni of CASE Summer Institute, Williams College and Leadership Fairfax. Suzanne is a member of Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Washington Planned Giving Council.

Paulette Jackson
Regional Development Director
UNCF - United Negro College Fund

Paulette has been involved in development for 20 years. In her current position, she is responsible for directing a comprehensive 4 million dollar, multi-state development program that includes fundraising, communications, and constituent relations. Previously, as Development Director at NAMI, Paulette was responsible for directing a national fundraising program to secure annual, major, and planned gifts. Before that, she worked as Development Associate at University of Missouri-Rolla where she was responsible for planning, organizing and implementing fundraising strategies to support six academic departments for the School of Mines and Metallurgy’s 15 million dollar major gifts campaign. Paulette currently serves as a volunteer member for the Washington, DC Chamber of Commerce's Business Growth and Development Committee, Business Resource Center, Entrepreneurship Subcommittee and Workforce Development Committee. She earned a Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Development from St. Mary's University of Minnesota and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Cameron University. She is a member of Association of Fundraising Professionals. She was a contributor in the Matching Gift Administration publication: Examining the Evolving World of Matching Gifts; The Matching Gift Clearinghouse: A Program of CASE, 2005.

Heidi Minken
Director of Development
Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

Heidi has been involved in fundraising for 20 years. She is Director of Development for Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and has raised an unprecedented $4 million through the creation of a new major gifts pipeline and annual fund campaign. Previously, as Director of Development at Mercy Medical Center, she helped to complete the $40 Million campaign for the Weinberg Center for Women's Health and Medicine and recruited over 100 volunteers to serve on an advisory board to enhance Mercy's major gifts program. Before that, she worked as Director of Development at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital where she was responsible for developing corporate giving programs to support community outreach initiatives. Heidi serves on the advisory board for The Center for Innovative Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview. She earned a Bachelors of Art in Art History from Skidmore College and a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from Maryland Institute College of Art. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
