Kate has been involved in nonprofit strategy and management for 12 years. In her current position, she consults nonprofit and philanthropy clients in areas including strategic & business planning, strategic alliances, governance assessment and development, organizational development, growth strategy development, implementation and operations planning, and measurement. Kate has helped nonprofits and foundations develop and manage strategic alliances that increase capacity, extend reach to more beneficiaries, decrease costs, and ignite innovation. Additionally, she has helped organizations manage the life cycle of a partnership, including how to source, develop, grow, maintain, evaluate and exit. Previously, Kate was a director at the United Way of Metro Chicago, where she led strategic planning for community impact. Before moving to Chicago, Kate was a consultant at The Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit consulting firm affiliated with Bain & Company. Before that, she worked as Executive Director & Co-founder at Computers for Children, Inc. Kate has an MBA from Harvard Business School and has written case studies on strategy and business marketing for that institution. She is a member of the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits, and was selected to be part of the Interim Executive Directors referral pool within the Executive Service Corp of Chicago.
In her current position as a consultant, Bonnie works with nonprofit organizations to create effective partnerships and strategic alliances. Her clients include a wide range of international, national and local organizations. She has also spoken about strategic alliances and partnerships to groups from Goodwill Industries International to Socia Edge – an online community. Bonnie is a former executive director of Zonta International (an international service organization in 65 countries), and the Council of Great Lakes Governors. She has a M.A. from Yale University and is author of the book Going Global for the Greater Good: Succeeding as a Nonprofit in the International Community, a how-to for practitioners. Her memberships include the American Society for Association Executives, Association Forum of Chicago and Association of Consultants to Nonprofits.
The seminar will be taking place at the University Center Conference Center Chicago, which is located in the heart of Downtown Chicago, at State Street and Congress Parkway. Cabs are continually on call if you have to get back to the office quickly. Parking is nearby, abundant and inexpensive.

The Red Line stop is at the corner of Harrison and State which is across the street from the building. Driving Directions: From the Southwest (I-55 Stevenson Expressway) Proceed east to the end of I-55 to North Lake Shore Drive. Continue north (towards downtown) on Lake Shore Drive to Balbo Street. Turn left on Balbo to State Street; turn right on State Street. Continue one block. University Center will be on your right between Harrison Street and Congress Parkway.
From the South (I-57 to I-94 Dan Ryan Expressway) Exit at Congress Parkway. Drive east towards downtown to State Street. Turn right on State Street. University Center will be on your left between Congress Parkway and Harrison Street.
From the North (I-90/94 Kennedy/Edens Expressway) Exit at Congress Parkway. Drive east towards downtown to State Street. Turn right on State Street. University Center will be on your left between Congress Parkway and Harrison Street.
From the West (I-290 Eisenhower Expressway) I-290 turns into Congress Parkway at it nears downtown. Continue driving east to State Street. Turn right on State Street. University Center will be on your left between Congress Parkway and Harrison Street.
