Facebook is flexible, easy-to-use and has a wide array of applications and tools designed for nonprofits that make promoting your organization a whole lot easier. It allows you to connect with thousands of supporters at the click of a mouse.

In this session we will cover the following:
•       How to set up a fan page for your nonprofit and build an online community
•       What type of content to post on your Facebook page
•       How and when to use Groups to attract fans to your Facebook page
•       How to maximize event marketing on Facebook
•       How to run an effective Facebook ad campaign
•       How to integrate Facebook into your overall marketing plan

Participants will walk away from this session with a solid introduction to Facebook effectively, and an understanding of how to use it as a marketing tool for your organization.

Lovette is a social media and web strategist, having launched AweLuv Consulting after years of doing fulltime social media work for nonprofit organizations. In her current position she helps her clients use and understand Facebook as well other social media outlets to help promote their organizations. Concurrently, she is the technology chair for the Chicago chapter of the New Leader's Council where she helps develop their Facebook page and uses other social media tools increase awareness. She also used her knowledge of Facebook and social media to found The Red Pump Project with Karyn Watkins - a nonprofit that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. Lovette holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois.

Joseph has been involved in social media for 2 years. In his current position, he is responsible for planning and execution of all social media initiatives at the John G. Shedd Aquarium. This includes long term planning and day to day content management and development for Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, YouTube, Flickr, and more. Joe utilizes Facebook at the Shedd Aquarium to connect with fans by sharing stories and photos, answering questions, playing games, and most importantly creating new advocates for the aquarium. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Radio/Television/Film from Northwestern University. Previously to employment at Shedd Aquarium Joseph worked on media planning at Starcom Worldwide for such companies as Heinz, Luxottica, Western Union and Allstate.
