SMS and Text Messaging 101 - A tool for Immediate Engagement

More than ever, nonprofits are using text messaging for fundraising, advocacy, and other types of communication. In addition to its fundraising potential, text messaging can be used to communicate breaking news and information. Texting campaigns are convenient and instant for donors. It’s also the one form of communication that many people are tethered to 24/7. Which is why, at a time when in-boxes fill with hundreds of never-opened e-mail messages from direct marketers, 97 percent of all SMS marketing messages are opened (83 percent within one hour), according to the latest cell-carrier research.

In this session we will cover:
•       When to use text messages to promote your organization
•       Integrating your text messaging with other forms of communication (email, phone, snail mail, etc)
•       How to build a text messaging database
•       Software needed for text messaging
•       How to get your text message campaign started

You will walk away from this session having a better understanding of the benefits of text messaging for your nonprofit.

This session is intended for Executive Directors, Senior Staff, and Directors of Communications.
