Speakers for this session:

Mary Tambiah
Senior Leadership Gifts Officer
Boston University

Mary has been involved in Fundraising for 19 years. Previously as Director of Major Gifts at Boston University from 2000 to 2003 Mary was responsible for developing a major gifts team, instructing and coaching new staff to identify, solicit and close six-figure gifts. Now as Senior Leadership Gifts Officer from 2006 to the present, Mary works with alumni and friends of BU to identify donors and close 6- and 7-figure gifts. In her prior position as Director of Planned Giving at Radcliffe College, Mary was responsible for closing life income gifts, documenting bequest intentions, formulating all print marketing for planned giving, and staff training. Mary currently serves as Advisor for the Charles River Conservancy and On the Rise. She earned a BA in Russian Language from Radcliffe College and an MGA in Business Administration from Simmons Graduate School of Management. She is a member of Planned Giving Group of New England and PG Calc.

Carolyn Wood
Development Consultant
Independent Consultant

Carolyn has been involved in development for 21 years. As a Development Consultant, she is currently working with a number of organizations on strategic planning, major gifts, and board training. Previously, as a consultant at The Second Step, Carolyn created and implemented the infrastructure for a major giving program. Before that, as Director of Development at the Wellesley Free Library, she completed a capital campaign to re-open two branch libraries and chaired the library's first strategic planning committee. Earlier in her career, Carolyn worked as part of the Harvard Partners Program, an entrepreneurial capital giving team at Harvard University. Carolyn serves as a Trustee at The Meadowbrook School of Weston, where she is co-chair of the 2010-2011 Annual Campaign. Before joining the board, she co-chaired the Special Gifts Committee of the Pillars of Excellence Campaign, an $18 million capital campaign that was completed in 2008. Carolyn has a Masters degree in History from Harvard University and a Bachelors degree in History from Tulane University. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Women in Development.
