Speakers for this session:

Dexter Bailey
Vice President Development and Alumni Relations
WPI

Dexter has been involved in development for 16 years. He now serves as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. Previously, as Executive Associate Athletic Director at the University of California, Berkeley, Dexter was responsible for reengineering the Cal Athletic Development Office and the Athletic Ticketing Department. Before that, he worked as Assistant Dean for Development and External Relations, for the School of Law at the University of Washington and served as Assistant Dean for Development in the College of Education at his alma mater Ohio University. Dexter currently serves as a Board Member for The Greater Worcester Community Foundation and The Ecotarium. He earned his MBA in Business Administration from University of Toledo. He is a member of Council for Advancement and Support of Education and The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges.

Julie Crockford
President
Emerald Necklace Conservancy

Julie has been involved in fundraising for 25 years. In her current position, she is responsible for leading the development of a major gifts program to support the growth of the Conservancy. Previously, as Director of External Affairs at Museum of African American History, Julie was responsible for all fund-raising and stewardship, including local, state and federal government relations. She created a major donor-giving circle, tripled net revenue from the Museum’s Living Legends Awards, and developed and managed a capital campaign. Julie currently serves on the Emerge Massachusetts Board of Directors. She earned a BA in Psychology from George Washington University. In addition she served on the local board of directors of Piers Park Sailing Center, Boston Women’s Heritage Trail, and Unicef Committee of Greater Boston. An alumna of Lead Boston, she served on the National Board of Directors, Project Concern International, San Diego, CA.

Griet Dehandschutter

Griet has been in development for 15 years. In her current position, she works with local and international nonprofits to design tailored major giving programs for her clients, be it small or large nonprofits in the arts, international development or the environment. Previously, as Director of Development and Communications at SPIN-USA, Griet was responsible for, developing communication tools, the annual appeal, major gifts, and grant proposals. Griet currently serves as a Board member of iScale, a nonprofit focused on developing and disseminating innovations for scaling impact. She is a member of the Stewardship Committee of the United Church of Christ in Boxborough, MA. She earned a M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University and a Law degree from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Women in Development of Greater Boston.
