In this session, you'll closely examine three case studies to get real life feedback on how winning corporate-nonprofit relationships actually work. We will look at the following:

- Cause marketing case study
- Multi-year corporate grant case study

Speakers for this session:

Judy Harrington
Director of Development
Boston Partners in Education

Judy has been involved in development for 27 years. In her current position, she is responsible for overseeing strategies for multifaceted corporate partnerships including sponsorship and C level engagement with a unique literacy based fund raising initiative. Previously, as President of Junior League of Boston, Judy was responsible for leading 2000 member 100 year-old leading women's charity in Boston. Before that, she worked as chairman of Show House at Junior League of Boston where she was responsible for a million dollar fundraiser drawing on generous corporate support within the decorative arts and home design field. Judy currently serves as an academic mentor for Boston Partners in Education. She earned a BA in Community Planning from Newton College of the Sacred Heart. She is a member of Women in Development Association of Fund Raising Professionals - Massachusetts Chapter.

Elizabeth Hart

Elizabeth has been involved in the nonprofit sector for 10 years. As Executive Director, she is responsible for the overall visioning, planning, fundraising, fiscal management and marketing for the organization as well as the testing and implementation of new programs. In the past ten years, Elizabeth has had a variety of experiences creating corporate partnerships, raising funds and writing grant proposals at both the public and private levels. She has extensive experience soliciting corporate sponsorships for events and general operating support of the organization. Elizabeth currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Malden YMCA, Malden Chamber of Commerce; is an Advisory Board Member, Mystic Valley Elder Services and serves as President, Zonta Club of Malden. She earned a Master's in Management with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Cambridge College and a Master's in Business Administration from Northeastern University. She is a member of The Women's Alliance and Concerned Citizens of the Mentally Retarded. Most recently, Elizabeth has started consulting with small to medium size nonprofit organizations to help them fulfill their mission.

Valerie McSorley

Valerie has been involved in Special Events for over fifteen years. During that time, she has sat on both sides of the sponsorship fence by selling and purchasing sponsorship rights. She has a keen understanding of what corporations expect through their involvement with events and recognizes the value of working with them strategically as true partners. Previously, she was Special Event Manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA where she developed partnerships with high-level organizations including Boy Scouts of America, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. She started Avant Garde Events, Inc. in 2002 and most recently launched the NorthEast Sponsorship Network. She is a member of the Boston Women’s Network and the National Association of Female Executives. She is a past member of the International Special Events Society and a past President of the Downtown Boston Chapter of Business Network International, BNI. Valerie was named one of the Top 10 Event Planners in Boston by Women's Business Boston and was most recently nominated for a Mompreneur Award. Event planning and production is her true passion and she brings a fresh approach to every project she chooses to collaborate on.
