As founder of Denterlein Worldwide Public Affairs, Geri Denterlein leads a growing company that specializes in strategic communications and is known for its successful crisis communications work, public policy campaigns, and healthcare consulting. Geri currently serves as the Chair of the Board for the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay, as well as the Chair of the American Red Cross Metro Managers Chairman's Group Trustee. As Chair of the Board Geri leads and oversees the operations and affairs of the Board, working to ensure that the Board functions properly, meets its obligations and responsibilities, and fulfills its mandate as set forth by the National Red Cross. Geri is also a Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation Board member. Denterlein holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Prior to owning her own company, Geri served as communication director for the Departments of Mental Health and Retardation and as an associate press secretary to former Gov. Michael S. Dukakis.
JoAnn Griffin, MSW, LICSW, has served in disasters for 16 years. In her current position she plans, prepares, and responds to assist animals affected by man-made or natural disasters and other large emergencies in Central Massachusetts and particularly Worcester County. Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker for 40 years. She has worked in critical incident cases in her private practice and has been involved with a Disaster Action Team, Mental Health and Mass Care, and the American Red Cross (ARC) of Central Mass since 1994. JoAnn has responded to national and local disasters including Hurricane's Andrew, Ike, the Missouri floods, the Central Mass Ice Storm, 9/11, the Worcester Cold Storage and other fires, local criminal incidents, and animal hoarding and puppy mill incidents. In addition to CMDART and the ARC, she is a member of National Association of Social Workers, Noah's Wish, Humane Society of the United States, State of Massachusetts Disaster Animal Response Team, and faith-based organizations. She has a private counseling practice in Sutton, Ma. Proudly married 42 years.
Elyse has been involved in emergency preparedness for two years. In her current position, she is responsible for JEMS, Boston’s Jewish Community Emergency Management System. She has extensive experience conceptualizing, coordinating and integrating innovative community outreach and has coordinated and built efficient and effective emergency management communication processes. As Director of JEMS, Elyse presents trainings for Jewish community professionals and volunteer leaders on topics such as enhancing your organization’s security, emergency preparedness and response, High Holidays security and business continuity of operations. Previously, as Director, Community Outreach at Combined Jewish Philanthropies, Elyse Initiated all aspects of community-wide special events, missions to Israel and community events from conception to execution including security and working with local law enforcement. She earned MJCS in Jewish Communal Service from Brandeis University and a ABCP in Business Continuity from the DRII. She is a member of ACP, NEDRIX and AJCS. After 20 years in the non-profit world, Elyse understands that non-profits are the "glue" that hold communities together and these organizations are obligated to create and implement resilience and preparedness plans that will ensure their ability to continue to provide community services.
Bob has been involved in disaster preparedness and response for 25 years. Bob’s career began as a Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteer and Health and Safety instructor for the Southeast Louisiana Chapter. Since then he has held many positions within the American Red Cross including roles in Marketing, Emergency Services, Disaster, Readiness, and Operations. Bob has been an active member of the Disaster Services Human Resource System (DSHR) since 1986, and is currently an Assistant Director. He has directed relief efforts for hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, wild fires, ice storms, winter storms and many man-made disasters. As the Chief Emergency Services Officer for Massachusetts Bay, Bob is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of the Red Cross Emergency Services within Eastern Massachusetts. This includes coordinating and managing the emergency response teams of paid and volunteer staff. He earned Bachelors in Philosophy from St. Mary’s of the Barrens Seminary. Bob has responded and assisted in over 30 major National Disaster Operations. Some of those operations included Hurricane Hugo (on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix), Hurricane Andrew (southern Florida), 9/11 (New Jersey), Hurricane Katrina/Rita (Louisiana).

Parking at the Simmons College Due to limited parking in the urban area around Simmons, we encourage visitors to use alternative transportation when commuting to Simmons. Limited parking is available on nearby streets and private garages. There are three parking garages in the area: Simmons Garage [P1 on map] THIS GARAGE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO CFNPS ATTENDEES DUE TO THE NUMBER OF SIMMONS STUDENTS.
