Social Media

Social media is beginning to transform non-profits both in the way they work as well as the relationships they have with their members and donors. Now more than ever you need to combine peer-to-peer fundraising with social media tools.

In this session we will examine the following:

- The role of social media in building a brand for your nonprofit
- An overview of social media tools: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, and Blogging Basics
- Combining social media with peer-to-peer fundraising
- Effectively using social media to cut marketing and promotional costs
- How “cause marketing” with various social media can build donations and gain new volunteers
-Creating a social media outcome measurement plan

If you have never used Facebook, Twitter or other social media outlets as part of your fundraising efforts, this session will educate you on what is involved, how much time it takes, and whether it is worth the effort. Join us to learn how you can make Social Media work for your organization.

This session is intended for Board Members, Executives, Senior Staff and Marketing/PR Managers.
Speakers for this session:

Rabiya Jilani
CEO
Lumenica, LLC

In her role as CEO, Rabiya works with Nonprofit and Association Executives in implementing a winning social media and online marketing strategy for fundraising, cause awareness, marketing, media exposure, and event management. As the former Director of Business Incubation Center at CBP, Rabiya was head of Communications and Business Development. With limited resources, like any nonprofit, she had to gather new clients, sponsors and get media exposure for the organization. With a focused Social Media strategy she was able to develop successful partnerships with local and international firms. She was also featured on CNN Local News among other media outlets and increased the Incubator client base by 300% with the right mix of online and offline marketing. She is also an Ambassador for South Asian Business Alliance Network and sits on the Working Group for Organization for Pakistani Entrepreneurs in North America, the DC Chapter. She is a member of Intelligent Community, Women in Technology, Women Who Launch, and Tech Cocktail. She earned Bachelors Degree in Economics from University of Maryland.
