Speakers for this session:

Ruthellen Harris
Major Gifts Officer
American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter

Ruthellen has been involved in development for 30 years. In her current position, she is responsible for developing strategies, planning events and soliciting Major Gifts in San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin and Solano Counties; stewarding current donors and cultivating prospects. Previously, as Director of Development and Marketing at Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School, Ruthellen was responsible for recruiting, supporting, training and empowereing volunteers; designed and implemented campaigns and events to raise over $15M for capital and operating funds; supervised all marketing including newsletters, ads, flyers, invitations, apparel. Before that, she worked as Executive Director at Mozart Grove Assisted Living where she was responsible for soliciting major gifts and designing a campaign for volunteers to raise $6M to build a facility. Ruthellen currently serves as a volunteer for Peninsula Jewish Community Center (Past President) and is a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Response. She earned a B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley She is a member of Association of Fundraising Professionals, Silicon Valley Chapter. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and holds an Elementary Teaching Credential.

Richard Lamport

Richard has been involved in major gift fundraising for 25 years. In his current position, he is responsible for consulting with organizations in developing comprehensive campaigns including major gifts and capital fund drives. Previously, as major gift officer for the Episcopal Church's national office in New York he worked on Venture in Mission, a one hundred million-dollar major gifts campaign and started the Church's planned giving program. Before that, he worked in the for-profit field as a product manager for the Reader's Digest. Richard currently serves as the principal of Gift Planning Associates, a firm that uses the techniques of for-profit marketing to develop and close major gifts. He has a BA from Kenyon College in Political Science and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University. He is a member of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and has served on the Board of their San Francisco affiliate, the Northern California Planned Giving Council.

Kelli-Ann Nakayama
Development Officer
Children`s Hospital & Research Center Foundation

Kelli-Ann has been involved in fundraising for 10 years. In her current position, she is responsible for expanding Children's leadership gifts of over $25,000. Previously, as Major Gifts Officer at Leadership Public Schools, Kelli-Ann was responsible for working closely with LPS's board of directors to develop and expand the organization's major gifts program. Before that, she worked as Development Officer at Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at UC Berkeley, Development Director at Legal Services for Children, and Development Associate at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center. Kelli-Ann currently serves as the Vice Chair for the Development Executives Roundtable (DER). In addition, she is the Founder, Co-Chair and Presenter for DER's Major Gifts Magic peer support group, and Co-Chaired AFP's 2010 Fundraising Day Program Committee. She earned her B.A. in Anthropology from UC Berkeley and a M.A. in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University, and Certificate of Fundraising Management (CFRM) from the Fundraising School at Indiana University. She is a member of DER, AFP and DER. She has spoken at numerous seminars for DER, AFP, Foundation Center, CBO Center, and San Francisco State University.
