Obtaining money from the corporate sector can be tricky, and sometimes the only way to understand how it is done is to see successful partnerships at work. In this session, you'll closely examine three case studies to get real life feedback on how winning corporate-nonprofit relationships actually work. We will look at the following:

- Cause marketing case study
- Multi-year corporate grant case study

Speakers for this session:

Mary Dunbar
VP Resource Development
Mercy Housing California

Mary has been involved in fundraising for 8 years. In her current position, she is responsible for resource development and corporate and foundation relations, as well as major donor cultivation. Previously, as Director of Development at Rubicon Programs Inc., Mary was responsible for building development department infrastructure, including corporate and foundation grants and relations. Before that, she worked as Development Manager at The Commonwealth Club of California where she was responsible for Corporate membership and sponsorship cultivation, solicitation and VIP events management, foundation and corporate grants. Mary currently serves as a Board member / volunteer for Association of Fundraising Professionals, Golden Gate Chapter (AFP-GGC); Advisory Board member, AFP-GGC, Multicultural Alliance Program (MCA); Chair , AFP-GGC Mentor Program and a Mentor for the AFP-GGC Mentor Program. She is a member of Association of Fundraising Professionals, Golden Gate Chapter (AFP-GGC) Member, Development Executives Roundtable (DER).

Lee Theisen
Vice President for Development
San Francisco Art Institute

Lee has been involved in development for 30 years. In his current position, he is responsible for all development activities including corporate sponsorship and membership, major gifts, planned gifts, grants, capital campaigns and special event fundraising and stewardship. In his career, he has been Executive Director of two foundations, an Assistant Dean for Development, and Executive Director of three museums. He has consulted and raised funds internationally. He earned Ph.D. in History and Art from the University of Arizona and a M.A. and B.A. in history and film from the University of Iowa. He is a member of CASE, the Northern California Planned Giving Council, and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.
