Margaret DeVine, CFRE
Principal
DeVine Consulting

Margaret DeVine, CFRE is a former executive in development with 21 years of experience in the field, including 18 years at Children's Memorial Hospital and the Chicago Botanic Garden, and as a consultant since 2006. DeVine, specializes in the areas of fundraising, strategic planning, and executive recruiting. At Children's Memorial Hospital, she was instrumental in leading staff teams and volunteer boards to raise more than $350 million, including four comprehensive philanthropic campaigns. While at the Botanic Garden, DeVine served as president for external affairs and was responsible for development, membership, communications and government relations. DeVine is a member of AFP, Association of Consultants to Nonprofits and Donors Forum, where she has also served as an instructor. Additionally, she serves on the Development Committee of NPES School and lead class agent for Middlebury College, her alma mater.

Kelly Kleiman
Principal
NFP Consulting

Kelly has been involved in individual-gifts fundraising for 20-plus years. In her current position, she helps charities and philanthropies organize themselves better and raise more money from individuals. Previously, as Executive Director at the Chicago Children's Choir, Kelly directed all non-musical aspects of the Choir's education and performance programs. This included spearheading all fundraising activities, including individual gift solicitation. Before that, she worked as Assistant Dean at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law where she created the public information program and worked with the Board of Overseers to strengthen fundraising. She also led student recruitment activities, honing her skills at reaching out to key audiences. Kelly currently serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Chicago Public Interest Program and as Hotline Volunteer Coordinator for the Judicial Bypass Coordination Project of the ACLU of Illinois. She earned an A.B. in political science and a law degree from the University of Chicago. She was a founding Board member and President of the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits and remains an ACN member.

Kathy Miller
Director of Communications and Development

Kathy has been involved in development for over 20 years. In her current position, she has designed a new major gifts program to expand the fundraising program and diversify the revenue stream. As a consultant with Public Interest Fundraising, she worked with local, state and national organizations on all aspects of major gifts: leadership training, prospecting, rating & ranking, cultivation strategies, team accountability, solicitations and stewardship. Kathy was the Associate Director of the ACLU of Illinois, and a major gifts trainer for the ACLU's Fundraising Faculty. She was Development Director of the Evanston Community Foundation, enlisting Board participation in face-to-face fundraising to build their endowment--ECF is now a $750,000 local grantmaking institution. Kathy has served on the Board of Directors of Victory Gardens Theater, Planned Parenthood/Chicago, ACLU of CT. She is a founder of United We Learn. Kathy received her major gifts training from the master: Hank Rosso, founder of The Fund Raising School, before he bequeathed it to the University of Indiana.
